Harbor Beach MI Fishing Report
Posted: 07/03/2009

Steelhead action is good if you find those color lines, try out as far as 140 feet of water, troll those bright colors for best results back 100 feet off the Offshore Boards.

Bass fishing is still the best in years with lots being taken inside the harbor casting around the weed beds and close to shore North and South of the harbor.

Walleye fishing has slowed due to the rains but some continue to be taken off the crawler harness and hot and tots trolling in 20 to 60 feet of water.  Long lines have still been working best.

Salmon fishing continues to be on the slow side, but some are being taken mixed in while fishing for the Lake Trout

Lake Trout are being taken in 60 to 80 feet of water straight out and North of the harbor, as well as out as deep as 110 to 130 feet of water using spoons or Dodgers with green with white wing spin and glows fishing close to the bottom.  Try pearl, yellow, gold, or green camo colors for best results..

For Perch you might try in closer with minnows.  There are lots of minnows this year and there have been some reports of some perch being taken in close, yes, even as close as inside the harbor!  Try the North wall by the City Marina and the walkway by the beach if you don't have a boat.  Don't forget to take a kid fishing it's something they will remember forever!  Have a safe weekend.

Saginaw Bay Report - Updated 7-03-2009

Wulp, everyone.
The same fishing status quo seems to be holding true since my last report. Lots of nice fish still coming from areas real shallow and real deep (considering Saginaw Bay standards) when talking deep. With most walleyes still falling prey to anything baited with live or Artificial worms. And it's getting easier to tell where these different spots are by the mass of boats in these areas. It seems weird to me to motor for 3 or 4 miles straight out of Linwood Beach Marina and see so few boats fishing in that nice walleye12 to 16 foot zone. When last year that's where the fishing and the catching was the best. The one thing that has changed drastically since my last report is the water temp. I had surface temps as high as 84 degrees during the middle of last weeks heat wave. But often during short intense heat waves, the very extreme surface temps (especially during calm days) can be deceiving. But during that time I had a few good reports about crankbait's catching a number of good fish trolling in 12 to 15 FOW, between the Saganing and Pinconing bars. Personally, I've went to both spoon and crawlers harnesses on both sides of the boat these last 2 weeks, and am very happy I did. As usual, I'm posting a couple of recent pictures and hoping everybody stays safe, fishes smart and has tight lines.
